President Bola Tinubu has declared that Nigeria has been lifted from a period of uncertainty and is now on a path toward stability, while promising that the federal government will establish state police to address insecurity across the country.

Tinubu made the remarks on Monday while hosting governors to a Ramadan Iftar at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa.

Speaking to the assembled leaders, he emphasized the administration’s commitment to strengthening security and implementing local government autonomy.

“To Nigeria, we are out of the woods, we are out of the dark corner of uncertainty; what I promise is that we will establish State Police to combat insecurities,” the President said. He urged state governors to immediately begin implementing the ruling on local government autonomy.

Tinubu expressed his gratitude for the strong attendance at the event despite political activities across various states, noting the significance of Ramadan, which coincides with the Christian faith, as a period demanding discipline, sacrifice, faith, perseverance, and determination.

“You know what it means, discipline, sacrifice, faith, perseverance, strong determination for us to continue to bridge together, pray together and love one another. Love for the community, love for our neighbours and service for humanity. I want to thank all of you for what you have been able to get and achieve so far,” he said.

The President also urged governors to extend development opportunities to young people and grassroots communities.

“To all of you, I’m very, very grateful, because we’ve seen progress. We’ve seen commitment to duty, but please, I appeal again: let’s go further to embrace the young ones and all the supporters and let’s spread the development opportunity across to the grassroots, the local government,” he added.

Highlighting the results of hard work in sectors such as agriculture, Tinubu cited the example of “my son, the farmer from Niger,” and noted that public feedback, including complaints and commendations, comes from all angles. He stressed that unity and determination are key to the nation’s progress.

“The best is yet to come to Nigeria. It’s yet to come,” Tinubu concluded.
