Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have killed over 200 terrorists in fresh offensive operations across the North-East, as the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Olufemi Oluyede, and Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Waidi Shaibu, visited the frontline to assess ongoing military efforts, ENigeria Newspaper has gathered.
The latest offensive, described as a major operational success, comes amid intensified efforts by the military to degrade insurgent capabilities following recent suicide bomb incidents in Maiduguri.
Briefing the service chiefs, the Theatre Commander of the Joint Task Force, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, disclosed that the sustained assaults had significantly weakened terrorist groups, with several others injured and unable to return to combat.
“Troops remain resolute, undeterred, and fully committed to intensifying operations aimed at denying terrorists freedom of action and restoring lasting peace and economic stability in the North-East,” Abubakar said.
He explained that despite occasional setbacks, troops have maintained operational dominance through coordinated offensives executed with professionalism and determination.
Addressing troops at the Maimalari Cantonment, CDS Oluyede commended their resilience and sacrifices, urging them to sustain the current momentum. He charged field commanders to step up offensive actions, improve intelligence gathering, and adopt proactive strategies to forestall further attacks.
In order to guarantee the final defeat of terrorism, the defense chief also reassured staff that Defence Headquarters would continue to support them. In a same vein, COAS Shaibu called for persistent pressure on insurgents throughout the theater of operations and commended the forces for their dedication.
He urged commanders to adopt a firm posture to deny terrorists any operational space, particularly during sensitive periods such as Ramadan.
The army chief also offered troops additional operational and logistical support to support ongoing offensives and increase field effectiveness.
