The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has called on citizens to remain united and hopeful in the face of ongoing socio-economic and security challenges, stressing that the nation still holds the strength to overcome its difficulties.

In an Easter message issued on Sunday in Abuja, CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, and obtained by ENigeria Newspaper, said the season symbolises renewal and the possibility of recovery, noting that the resurrection of Jesus Christ is proof that “rising again is always possible” regardless of past hardships.

Highlighting the current mood across the country, Okoh acknowledged the struggles many Nigerians are facing. “Across the country, people are weary. Families are anxious. Many do not feel safe; others are struggling just to get by. For some, hope has grown faint.”

“But Easter tells us this is not the end. We do not have to remain where we are. We can rise, rebuild, and move forward, together.”

The cleric also directed his message to those in positions of authority, describing the moment as a critical test of leadership. He said, “People must feel leadership, not just hear it. They are looking for action, for empathy, for visible efforts to improve their lives. That is how a nation begins to rise.”

Okoh further charged religious institutions to remain steadfast in their responsibility to support the vulnerable and provide guidance during uncertain times, while urging Nigerians to resist division and fear.

“Hard times can divide, but they can also unite. If we choose unity over suspicion and look out for one another, change becomes not just possible, but certain,” he added.

“Easter is more than a celebration; it is a decision to rise above our differences, to stand together, and to confront what holds us back”, he reinforced the deeper meaning of the season.

He concluded by wishing Nigerians a happy Easter and praying for continued progress and stability in the country.
