The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has set the date for inaugration of elected state executives of the party amid INEC’s delisting and derognizing the leadership of the David Mark-led of the party. The party also announced the 12th of next month as the date for the inaugration of these newly-elected state executives.

The decision to elect new state executives is a reflection of the party to uphold internal democracy and the rule of law.

ENigeria Newspaper obtained this in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, on X on Sunday as in its effort to fortify the party across the country and  stick to the party’s principles and follow Senator David Mark, the National Chairman.

“The African Democratic Congress (ADC) congratulates all newly elected State Executives and State Chairmen across the federation on the successful and peaceful conduct of their congresses”, the statement reads.

“These elections, carried out in line with the provisions of the law and the party’s constitution, reflect the ADC’s enduring commitment to internal democracy, transparency, and the rule of law. We commend all party members and stakeholders for exercising their democratic rights with maturity, discipline, and a shared sense of purpose.

“The Party is pleased to announce that the formal inauguration of the newly elected State Executives is scheduled to take place on May 12, 2026, or on a later date to be duly communicated by the National Working Committee.

“As you prepare to assume office, we urge all elected officials to remain steadfast in their dedication to the ideals and vision of the party.

“The task ahead requires unity, discipline, and a continued commitment to building a strong, credible alternative for the Nigerian people.

“The ADC remains confident that under your leadership at the state level, the party will continue to grow, deepen its structures, and strengthen its connection with citizens across the country.

“Once again, congratulations”, the statement concluded.

ADC in recent weeks

The opposition party has been active in the last couple of weeks. It has asked for the resignation of INEC Chairman, staged a protest in Abuja and declared that it would continue this new week. The party is also facing an internal issue of factional leadership after INEC asked it to return to status quo because it was approached by two leaderships, David Mark’s and Nafiu Bala’s.

Also, state congresses in some parts of the county have stalled due to leadership crises. In the same vein, doubts loom over the planned national convention of the party slated for April 14th.

However, some states such as Abia, Ogun, Enugu and Anambra have proceeded with the congresses.
