Atiku Abubakar, Nigeria’s former vice president, has talked about he makes money to fund himself and election busineses.

The ADC Chieftain, who ran for president with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said that he got rich by investing in different businesses.

ENigeria Newspaper gathered this when the former president sat before Arise News’s Prime Time interview. He revealed that he made money in fields like oil and gas, logistics, agriculture, real estate, and education before getting into politics. He also said that he was already doing well in business before getting into politics and even helped to start and fund the PDP.

Atiku, who is considered one of Nigeria’s wealthiest politicians, also he has never been accused of corruption because the sources of his wealth are pure and open.

“Before I went into politics, I was already in business. I was in oil and gas, logistics. I was in agriculture. I was in a number of economic sectors of the country. Then, I virtually set up PDP. I virtually funded it. Why was I not being accused of corruption that time?”, the former presidential candidate said.

Atiku Abubakar also confirmed that the presidential election in 2027 will be his last.

“The 2027 election will be my last outing”, he said.

When asked why Nigerians should take the chance on him after so many failed attempts, given his age, the former Vice President said that Nigeria has a leadership problem and that his experience as a former Vice President and military governor of a state makes him different from President Tinubu.

“There is a clear and stark difference, take the cases if state governors in a number of state being headed by relatively young people and failing woefully simply because at the apex, they do not have capable and experienced president to guide them and to give them the benefit of his experience. That’s why we have been having a number of woeful leadership in a number if state because they are being headed by inexperienced young men,” he said.

Then, urging Nigerians to remove the current party, he warned that if the All Progressives Congress (APC) holds onto power, the nation faces a dire future.

“My final message to the Nigerian people is they should vote out APC if they want their future. If they don’t, it’s going to be a disaster. I don’t see the pathway to a brighter future for Nigeria in APC. Certainly not,” he said.

Atiku Abubakar has lost the presidential election six times ;1993, 2007, 2011, 2015, 2019, and 2023.
