Bolaji Agbede has been announced as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Access Holdings Plc, following the demise of Herbert Wigwe.

You would recall that days back, ENigeria News published news of the horrific death of Herbert Wigwe in a fatal helicopter crash that claimed the life of the Wizkid banker, his wife, son, and Abimbola Ogunbanjo, the former group chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group) who were all on board the helicopter at the time.

The death of Herbert Wigwe elicited heavy emotions among Nigerians, especially those who were acquainted with his genius persona and philanthropy. READ ABOUT WIGWE’s PA THAT SURVIVED

Following his death Access Holdings announced that a replacement was to be announced soon to forestall a lacuna in its operations. This was contained in a press statement released by the bank on Sunday via its official social media handles, where it eulogized Wigwe, citing his gargantuan achievements leading the bank to an enviable height which earned it a spot in the league of the biggest banking brand in Africa.

Although many frowned at the idea of the bank sounding rather insensitive by daring to mention talks of replacement for its fallen hero, others argued that the move was commendable as it would help sustain momentum and bolster investors’ confidence.

ENigeria News reports that only moments ago, Access Holdings announced named Bolaji Agbede as acting CEO.

Agbede joined Access Bank in 2003 as an assistant general manager and was responsible for managing the Bank’s portfolio of chemical trading companies. She became the head of human resources at Access Bank Group in 2010, overseeing the human capital development of the Group. She held the position until June 2022 when she was appointed the executive director of Access Holdings after the bank transitioned to a holding company.

The University of Lagos alumnus began her professional career at Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB), where she rose from executive trainee in 1992 to a managerial position in 2001. She was once GTB’s relationship manager and vault custodian.

Ms. Agbede subsequently served as the Chief Executive Officer of JKG Limited, a business consulting outfit, in 2003.

More on this subject soon.
