Onilogbo Hakeem, often known as Hakeem Effect, a well-known special effects artist has shared how his career began in his dream.
Hakeem, one of Nollywood’s top special effects artists, disclosed that the talent was repeatedly taught to him in his dreams until he mastered it.
He revealed this while appearing as a guest on a recent podcast obtained by ENigeria Newspaper.
“I had a dream where someone held my shoulder and asked me to follow him. I looked up to see who it was, but couldn’t see the face because he was tall and white. That was how the journey started,” he said.
“He asked me, what talent do you have? and I said I could draw, and then he said, if you can follow me, I will announce you to the world. Along the line, I joined the chorister and then a drama group where I was appointed to provide special effects even though I didn’t know what it means then. While I was thinking of how to go about it, I had the dream again where the said man told me how I would achieve the special effect and it was exactly as he told me in the dream”, he added.
He added that Murphy Afolabi, a late Nollywood producer and actor, was the one who gave him the moniker “Hakeem Effect.”
Hakeem Effect has worked on so many Nollywood projects including Femi Adebayo’s Jagun Jagun.
