Following his celebrity boxing match with sketch creator Carter Efe, singer Portable was urged to have a medical brain examination by Canadian-based Nigerian physician Arinze Onwumelu.
Portable lost the fight, attracted a lot of attention from fans and public figures and took place in Lagos over the weekend.
Dr. Onwumelu, better known as Dr. Zo, has now suggested that the ‘Zazzuu’ crooner have a brain scan, specifically Magnetic Resonance Imaging, to look for any internal problems that might have come from the match.
In a social media post and a video that went viral online on Monday, the doctor claimed that Efe punched Portable multiple times on sensitive areas of his skull, raising the possibility that the musician may have a subdural hemorrhage, a potentially fatal brain injury.
“This is an exhibition match meant for entertainment, not a real fight to harm anyone. The contenders are not expected to fight to that extent.
“Or does it mean Efe didn’t get the memo or wasn’t properly informed? I watched the whole video; the kind of punches he delivered means Portable may never recover from them.
“Anybody who knows Portable should take him to the hospital for MRI and brain test; there may be an artery that might have been damaged.”
In order to lower the danger of severe head injuries, the doctor also suggested that event organizers require participants to wear protective headgear.
How Carter Efe defeated Portable
